 10 ways to AWAKEN  who you truly are

Who are you really? Beyond the veils of your experiences, patterns, and behaviors, what makes you, you? We often lose ourselves and can't figure out who we are beyond being who we think we are. The real journey is within and we must shed this cocoon, unfold, and discover who we truly are under all these layers so that we can awaken to our true power and potential. Here are some ways you can connect with your true and authentic self.
 

  1. Connect with your inner child. What did you enjoy as a child? What are some of the activities you truly loved? Did you paint? Play sports? Did you love writing? As a child, you are at the purest stage of your life, untainted by societal expectations, and uncovering what you loved as a child can connect you to who you truly are.
     

  2. What and who do you follow? In your free time, what do you enjoy reading? Who do you follow? What are some of the pages you like? What groups do you belong to?
     

  3. Write, write, write. Start documenting every tiny aspect and detail of your journey, growth, and transformation. Even if you are not a natural writer, putting pen to paper is such a therapeutic form of release and healing. It might be difficult to get started, but once you make it part of your ritual and you start reaping the benefits, it becomes ingrained as a healthy habit.
     

  4. Take time for yourself. Even if it seems impossible, separate yourself from your responsibilities without the guilt, take time away from distractions and addictions: electronics, social media, shopping, etc., and regularly schedule time to do things you love and that make you come alive.
     

  5. Connect with nature and animals. You will gain clarity and peace through intentional encounters with nature, so make a commitment and find some time to be alone in nature, or if you have little ones, take them on a nature walk. It will help them find peace as well.
     

  6. Simplify your life as much as you can. Minimize distractions and this constant need to be busy, set boundaries and say “No”. Busyness is a condition that keeps you distracted from your feelings and thoughts that lead to self-awareness and finding your identity.
     

  7. Free yourself from clutter, attachment to things that no longer serve you. You can’t imagine the power and freedom of getting rid of stuff that don’t cause you joy or eliminating people from your life who don’t fulfill you.
     

  8. Powerful journal prompt: If money were no object, what would you be doing with your life right now? (after you’ve taken some time off and traveled the world of course :) Write your answer down in your journal.
     

  9. Engage in self-love. Shedding these layers of habits, patterns, and behaviors is not easy and can be painful. Be kind, compassionate and patient with yourself, let go of ideals of perfection, and don’t judge. You’re on this exciting journey to discovering who you truly are at your core and finding your joy. Be loving as you go through weak moments when you feel like you're regressing. Nurture the wounds and celebrate the wins, and know that you are doing the very best you can.
     

  10. Trust the process. You may not always understand the path you’ve taken or may question things that are happening to you. This deep knowing that you’re being guided and surrendering to the process, will make your journey much easier and more joyful.
